Roof LEAKS Happen in a “Flash”

Every, I mean every home has at least one opening in the roof system.  The one shown here is called a plumbing vent stack “boot” and serves as a waterproofing transition device for a vent pipe that comes up through the roof deck, through the shingled surface and into the air.  There are many different styles made of a variety of materials.  The goal with the inspection is to look for decayed, askew or even missing items that keep rain water out of the attic.  In this picture, the rubber has decayed and allows water to seep into the attic, onto the attic insulation and eventually showing as a water stain on ceiling drywall.

The GOOD, The BAD, and the UGLYExterior Caulking for Your Home.

Who has the time?  I’m not going to hire someone just to do that!  I can do it myself, one day soon!  I’m not really sure what to buy, but how hard can it be? (MORE)

Water Line Replacement

Posted May 13, 2011:

Sometime in 2010 we remember seeing the front yard of a house on Wellington Commons Drive “all dug-up”. Our immediate thought was, it seemed like the water main had gone bad and required replacement.

We did not pay much attention to the matter until a few weeks ago when we heard about Dominion Power′s Water Line Replacement Program. We went online to learn the features of the program and were immediately sold on the concept. Nothing lasts forever and a failure [leak] of this very important part of the mechanical systems of your home NEVER happens at an opportune time. The small monthly fee is more than worth it in knowing that this malfunction will be promptly repaired. The cost* covered under the program offered by Dominion Power. We signed up immediately.
